Sorry, I'm not sure if this board is still alive because there hasn't been a new post in a month, but I felt like I'd post my ideas. Sorry, it's really long.
The movie would begin with a shot for shot recreation of the opening sequence of the show (The Boy in the iceberg version). Cut to pretty much M.Night's exact version of the first part of the movie up until Katara hits the sphere. Only differences would be the establishment of Sokka's sarcastic humour and Katara's fiery streak.
Cut to Zuko and Iroh.
Show Aang go all glowy Avatar as he rises from the iceberg and then establish him as a carefree character with a line like "Are there any penguins here?" Have them take Appa back to the village with some interaction between characters ending with katara asking aang if he knows the avatar. Aang answers no, and cut to a flashback of Aang flying on Appa and freezing in the water.
Cut to Aang waking up as if from a bad dream. Interaction with villagers, Sokka shows distrust, Grangran explains that no Airbender has been seen in 100 years, before they can explain more, Zuko arrives. Short fight scene, Aang is taken to ship. Etc, Aang escapes after Sokka and Katara rescue him.
Air Temple: Scene plays out pretty much exactly the same but show Katara getting waterbending scroll here from a library or something, and establish the reincarnation plotline with Roku being focused on. Aang goes avatar state, shows flashback of Gyatso telling him he's the avatar, then a voice over of Roku.
On Appa, state the plan of going to the Northern Tribe and learning water bending, also establish and partly explain the Avatar state. Similar to the ending of the second episode of the series. Show Aang and katara training, with some dialogue of Aang confessing is feelings about why he didn't want to be avatar. Cut off mid sentence by loud crash, the Gaang follow the sound to see an earthbender(Haru) battling several firebenders. They help the earthbender and mid way throught the fight, the Kyoshi warriors arrive and provide assistance. Throw in some interaction between Suki and Sokka with Suki saving him or something. (I know the warrios were meant to stay out of the war at this point, but hey watcha gonna do)
Then have the Kyoshi warriors and Haru explain the prison ship holding earthbenders. Aang has a line explaining how he wants to make a difference this time.
Show the scene where Zuko and Iroh get invited by Zhao to dinner. Then have Zhao establish Zuko's backstory and have Zuko get all angry-like. Show that Zhao wants to capture the Avatar.
Cut to the prison ship boarding prisoners, with Aang and Haru as prisoners and Sokka humorously posing as a soldier. the ship sets sail as the kyoshi warriors sneak on board. Establish the prisoners as downtrodden, aang makes inspirational speach. Guards try to silence him, the Gaang fights back but are clearly outnumbered. Then the Kyoshi warriors release the coal(show sokka or something planning this earlier) and they take control of the ship.
Oh and have a character get burned and have Katara accidentally heal them by waterbending water onto the burn.
Short scene of Iroh training Zuko and Zuko being angry at only learning basics.
Another short scene of the Firelord and Zhiao. Ozai will have his face shown, but be shrouded in flames to preserve the menace. Ozai explains that Zhiao must capture the avatar.
Scene of the Gaang taking back the village and showing the adoration of the Avatar (Foaming mouth guy anyone?). Aang reveals that Roku told him to go to a sacred temple or something in the earth kingdom. Show a Fire Nation soldier hiding nearby overhearing them then slinking away. Katara and Sokka stay to help rebuild the village. Have scenes of Suki and Sokka doing stuff.
The Fire Nation spy tells Zhiao about where Aang is going.
Aang goes to sacred temple and meets sage who takes him to a statue of roku. Aang starts glowing again and has a conversation with Roku explaining the comet. As aang finishes conversation, Fire Sage knocks him out.
Scene where Zhiao is informed that they have captured the avatar. Show Zuko spying on them.
Pretty much the exact blue spirit sequence shown in The Last Airbender. but this time have the moment between Zuko and Aang of "maybe we could be friends?"
Aang returns to village, Sokka and Katara are relieved, elaborate on Katara and Aang's relationship by showing katara as especially worried. Have Aang explain the comet, they leave the village and say goodbye to the Kyoshi warriors and the villagers.

Scene with Yue and the Northern Water tribe, establishing her character.
The Gaang arrives at the North pole. Welcomed by Yue's father, have Sokka interact with Yue. Katara and Aang introduced to Pakku. Interaction between Katara and Pakku, establishing his reluctance to teach her.
Scene with Iroh and Zuko(who is revealed to be alive). Iroh agrees to teach Zuko more advanced moves.
Dual training montague of Katara, Aang and Zuko, interspersed with clips of yue and Sokka. Show Pakku slowly beginning to warm up to Katara. Alternate voice overs of Iroh explaining fire and the sun, and Pakku explaining water and the moon.
Scene with Aang and Katara battling group of waterbending students and winning. Pakku expresses his pride and has a moment with Katara.
Show Sokka taking Yue on a ride with Appa. They discover the Fire Nation is about to invade. Cut to Zhao and Iroh, also reveal Zuko is onboard.
The Northern Tribe begins to plan their defence, with Sokka being assigned to protect Yue and Aang suggesting he contact Roku. Avatar state is brought up. Yue suggests they go to Oasis.
Battle begins, with Zuko sneaking into the city.
Aang is meditating in the oasis while Yue and Katara talk, frequent cuts to the battle going on. It begins to get dark and Yue leaves with Sokka. Briefly show Aang in the Spirit world and Roku appears.
Show the Waterbenders start to kick ass because of the moon, Iroh warns Zhiao about the moon.
Zuko captures Aang, extended fight scene with Katara.
Sokka and Yue find Katara and they begin searching for Aang.
Have Roku explain to Aang that he can not yet control the Avatar state but he can get help with this from the spirits. Aang figures out the mystery of the Koi fish.
Show Zhiao inside the city and he explains to Iroh that he knows the location of the moon spirit.
Aang wakes up in room with Zuko. Fight scene, the room must be pretty big to have a decent fight scene. Katara intervenes and freezes Zuko. Moment between Zuko and Aang.
The Gaang returns to the Oasis. Zhiao is there, reveals his plot to destroy the moon. Iroh tells him not to, but Zhiao don't take no guff from no old man. He fireballs the fish and Iroh impressively takes out all of Zhiao's men and forces Zhiao to run like a little girl. Have Aang do a speech about accepting his responsibility. He drops into the pond and fuses with the remaining fish. The water lights up and all that.
What follows is either Aang goes Koizilla, but if that's too hard to animate, have Aang float around carried by a waterspout.
Zuko beats Zhiao in a short fight scene while Yue sacrifices herself and Sokka goes all sad face.
Aang forces the ships out of the city and collapses on the wall. Zuko and iroh escape the city.
Katara holds the unconscious Aang in her arms while everyone crowds around them. Katara makes a tearful plea for Aang to wake up and he does. He groggily gets to his feet while the entire tribe cheers. Fade to black.
Scene with the Firelord and Azula.
End movie.
I left out Jet because I have a plot in my head for the second movie that fits him in quite nicely. I added the Imprisoned plotline because while I didn't like the episode, I thought it fit quite nicely.
For a time rundown its:
South Pole and Southern Air Temple: 30 min
Earth Kingdom(Kyoshi warriors, Earh prison)30 min
Blue Spirit: 15-25 min
North Pole/Siege: 45-60 min
Basically, the movie should be roughly two hours with a large amount of the time at the North Pole. This should give the plot plenty of room to breath and allow characters like Yue and Pakku much needed screen time.
