I really like Saigas' idea. Not only does it achieve what is needed to be done, but it adds depth to Aang's character.

I prefer the tidal wave to Koizilla for live action, but one of the best things about Koizilla is that it gave obvious physical evidence that Aang was being controlled. With the wave, how would we set up his possession by the Ocean Spirit?
